On November 29, 2013, a jubilee XVth competition “Higher School of Kharkov – the best names” was held in training and sports complex of the NTU “KhPI” under the patronage of Kharkiv Regional State Administration, Department of Education and Science of the Kharkiv Regional State Administration, Council of Rectors of higher education establishments of ІІІ-ІVth accreditation levels of Kharkiv region, Northeast Scientific Center. An exhibition of scientific development scientists Kharkiv was held in the framework of the competition on the occasion of the 95th anniversary of the National Academy of Sciences of Ukraine. 10 research institutions and 31 higher education institutions presented their academic achievements.
In the XVth competition “Higher School of Kharkov – the best names” 117 scientific and pedagogical workers from all universities of Kharkiv competed in 7 categories, 9 of them won, 23 – received Diplomas.
The award ceremony of the competition “Higher School of Kharkov – the best names” was visited by honorary guests – HEI Rectors, representatives of local and regional authorities: deputy head of Kharkiv Regional State Administration E.E.Savin, deputy head of Kharkiv Regional Council O.P.Oleshko, deputy mayor of Kharkiv on the development and municipal maintenance I.A.Terekhov, director of Department for Science and Education of Kharkiv regional state administration R.V.Shapoval, director of the Ukrainian Center for Educational Quality Assessment of I.P.Zaitseva.
Opening the ceremony, deputy head of Kharkiv Regional State Administration E.E. Savin noted:
– Competition «Higher School of Kharkov – the best names” was established in 1999 and more than 700 scientific and pedagogical workers became winners over a period of 15 years.
Over a period of 15 years, the competition has become a good tradition of our region. From year to year it attracts more and more attention to the academic community. The participants – are truly the best names of high school. They are scientists who went through vast life and professional school, gained a great experience. These are people who devoted their lives to difficult, socially important profession. You are the pride of high school, you define the image of the field. Thanks to you Kharkov region is famous for the special spirit of academic and research initiatives, holds from year to year the first place in rankings. Kharkiv region – is the center of science and education, which has longstanding traditions and great scientific potential. I wish you energy on the way of scientific researches.
Scientific potential of the region is represented by more than 200 research institutions, including 18 – establishment of NAS of Ukraine, 31 higher education institutions of III-IV accreditation levels of various forms of property, including 17 – with the status of national research centers, 23 are objects that have the status of national heritage of Ukraine, 1 – techno park of national importance. In National Academies of Sciences of Ukraine Kharkiv region is represented by 54 academician and 86 corresponding members.
More than 213,000 Ukrainian students and more than 22,000 foreign students from 117 countries of the world study in Kharkov HEI universities with 20,5 thousand lecturers.
In 2012-2013, the Higher School of Kharkiv had the following results:
22 scientists were awarded the State Prize in the field of Science and Technology, 15 young scientists were awarded the annual prize of the President of Ukraine, 16 scientific and pedagogical workers received state awards of Ukraine, 964 dissertations were defended, more than 550 educational and research international projects and programs are implemented. Scientists Slobozhanshchina cooperate with foreign partners from 63 countries.
200 students receive scholarships of the President of Ukraine, the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine and the Cabinet of Ministers of Ukraine, 54 young scientists are scholarship holders of the President of Ukraine and the Cabinet of Ministers of Ukraine, 19 students and 40 young and leading scientists – regional scholarship holders.
