On September 18, 1988 in the presence of many political leaders and civil society representatives 388 Rectors from Europe and abroad signed the Magna Charta Universitatum. The document has since become a basis of fundamental values and principles of the universities.
So far, the Magna Charta Universitatum have been signed by about 750 university leaders from around the world and each year more and more universities join the principles stated in the Magna Charta. Higher education has undergone significant development since 1988, but the Magna Charta is still the foundation of universities around the world.
On September 19-20, 2013 Magna Charta will assemble its annual conference in Bologna, Italy to commemorate the 25th anniversary of the Magna Charta Universitatum.
On September 20, 2013 in the Magna Charta and University of Bologna took place the annual ceremony of the signing of the Magna Charta Universitatum, in which participated the NUPh delegation consisting of the NUPh Rector prof. Chernykh V.P., Vice-rector for international relations prof. S.B Popov and Head of the Department of Pharmaceutical Chemistry prof. Georgiyants V.A.
