According to the plan of the conferences approved by the Ukrainian Institute of Scientific, Technical and Economic Information (Registration Certificate of UkrISTEI  # 447 dd. July 13, 2011), on 15 March 2012 Department of Pharmacotherapy of the National University of Pharmacy (NUPh) held XXIX Scientific Conference “Medicines for men.  Current issues of creation, research and clinical trials of drugs”.

220 representatives from Ukraine (Kyiv, Dnipropetrovsk, Kharkiv, Zaporizhzhya, Ternopil, Ivano-Frankivsk and Lviv), Turkmenistan and Kazakhstan attended the conference.

The conference began with a greeting speech of NUPh  Rector Chernykh Valentin Petrovich, who stressed that the traditional conference that is annually conducted by the Department of Pharmacotherapy, provides a lot of new knowledge about treatment of diseases and introducing of new developments in the field of health care and wished fruitful work to the conference participants. Rector of NUPh Chernykh Valentin presented the report devoted to the topic “Focus on the patient. Medicine and Pharmacy of XXI century”, in which he stressed the importance of individualization of therapeutic measures to improve the quality of pharmacotherapy.

After greetings and report of the  NUPh Rector Chernykh V.P., the audience had a chance to listen to the report of the Head of Therapy Department #2 of Kharkiv Medical Academy of Postgraduate Education (KhMAPE) Bereznyakov I.G. concerning  pharmacotherapy of infectious diseases of urinary system, the use of drugs and diagnostic tools in clinical practice, providing of medical and preventive medical institutions with drugs in accordance with the formulary system and the results of foreign and domestic scientists’ experimental trials of drugs and new substances.

Report of the Head of Pharmacotherapy Department of NUPh, Professor Kireyev I.V. was devoted to the actual issue of effectiveness of cephalosporins use in the treatment of infectious pathology diseases of ENT organs from the standpoint of evidence-based medicine.

Associate Professor of Departmental Therapy DSEA of the Ministry of Health of Ukraine, course of Endocrinology, Dnepropetrovsk city, Martsynik E. M. reported on current approaches of  the diabetes type II treatment. There was presented epidemiology of diabetes mellitus type II in Dnipropetrovsk region, determined criteria for the diagnosis establishing abroad and the auditory got acquainted with the development of new pharmacotherapy standards in Ukraine, seeking approval next year.

At the end of his report Eugeniy Mykolaiovych  brought to the attention of medical community the experience of a new class of hypoglycemic use –  dipeptidyl peptidase IV inhibitor (dpp IV) Sitagliptin and Saxagliptin.   Benefits of these drugs compared with other drugs were mentioned and special attention was paid to safety of  hypoglycemic drugs in terms of uncontrolled spontaneous hypoglycemia.

Associate Professor of Pulmonology and Phthisiology Department of  KhMAPE Hodosh E.M. reported on new approaches to rational pharmacotherapy community-acquired pneumonia. The report presented drugs  used in the empirical treatment of community-acquired pneumonia, there were given the growth tendencies of  multiple resistance of major bacteria-pathogens. Domestic and foreign tendencies in overcoming the resistance of microorganisms were discussed in the material of the report and there was presented an algorithm of the most effective and safe pharmacotherapy alternative.

Professor Gorchakova N.O., National Medical University named after O.O. Bogomoltsya, reported on the pharmacological and quantum-chemical properties of polyunsaturated fatty acids and results of investigations of electronic and spatial structure of EPA and DHA molecules.

Head of Pulmonology and Phthisiology Department of  KhMAPE Professor Poteyko P.I.  made a report on diagnostics and pharmacotherapy of sarcoidosis. The report indicated the frequency of sarcoidosis disease cases and  the main factors triggering the disease.In the discussion of pharmacotherapy there was shown the  difference in pharmacokinetics and pharmacodynamics of drugs used in treating sarcoidosis. There was determined the optimal scheme of anti-relapsing therapy in case of severe course of disease from the perspective of minimizing the adverse effects of pharmacotherapy.

Head of the Pharmacotherapy Department of NUPh, Professor Kireyev I.V. in his report told of the infusion therapy in the structure of medical care to patients of therapeutic profile. The report identified the main pathophysiological aspects of intoxication syndrome in infectious diseases as the base on which the analysis of pharmacotherapy regimen application was conducted.

Report of Assistant Professor of General Surgery Department, Lviv National Medical University named after Danylo Galitskiy,  Kunovskoho V.V.  was about the pain syndrome and its  leveling. The proposed scheme Akupan + Dyklobru is an example of multi-modal anesthesia with clinically proven analgesic effect in 90% of patients.

Head of the Department of Ambulatory Pediatrics of KhMAPE, Tsodikova O.A. reported on current approaches to pharmacotherapy of acetonemic syndrome with metabolic disorders of various origins. The report concerned the present state of metabolic disorders in children, certain standards of therapy in Europe, Russia and Ukraine and conduction of original researches of acetonemic syndrome, which can quickly and effectively treat metabolic disorders in children of different age groups.

Head of the Department of Gastroenterology of KhMAPE, Professor Zvyagintseva T.D. reported on complications of stomach ulcers and risk of Helicobacter pylori infection, methods of its diagnosis and treatment. Tatiana Dmytrivna  reported standards of pharmacotherapy, according to the Maastricht consensus IV. There was given characteristic to the most frequently used class of drugs for the treatment of proximal gastrointestinal tract – proton pump inhibitors. Among the most commonly used drugs, special attention was paid to the brand drug Esomeprazole as to  the most effective and having the best compliance.

Head of the Department of Pharmacotherapy of NUPh, Professor Kireyev I.V. reported about the methods for screening diagnostics in gastroenterology. In present time rapid diagnostics of various diseases by determining biochemical markers of the initial determination of antigen and antibodies circulating in the blood, can allow make out the right provisional diagnosis within 10-15 minutes.

Report of the Head of the Pharmacoeconomics Department of NUPh, Professor Yakovleva L. V. concerned pharmaeconomical analysis of hypolipidemic agents – statins.

Head of the Department of reflexotherapy of  KhMAPE, Professor Morozova  O.G. reported on the current pharmacotherapy of autonomic dysfunction. The comparative analysis of drugs (anxyolytics, sedatives, antidepressants and β-blockers) was conducted. There was given the evaluation of modern anxyolytics without sedative effect, with marked vegetative stabilizing effect and can be applied in different age groups who need to maintain active cognitive functions.

Senior Researcher of the  Institute of Gastroenterology of  the National Academy of Medical Sciences of  Ukraine, Dnepropetrovsk, Kushnirenko I.V. reported about dysfunctions of motor-evacuation function in chronic gastroduodenitis. The report demonstrated original research on the effectiveness of domperidone lingual form, which is due to changes in pharmacokinetics may be combined with other classes of drugs without significant interaction.

Assistant professor of Pharmacotherapy Department of NUPh, Ryabova O.O. reported on topical glucocorticosteroids in pharmacotherapy of allergic dermatosis. Conclusion of the report is that providing rapid therapeutic response, topical glucocorticosteroids reduce the period of allergic dermatosis treatment, resulting in significant improvement of quality of patients’ life.

Assistant professor of Pharmacotherapy Department of NUPh, Kashuta V.E. reported on the role of therapeutic plasmapheresis in outpatient practice. Development and implementation into out-patient practice of effective and safe therapeutic plasmapheresis allowed to make this method suitable for a wider range of patients, improve the quality of treatment those diseases resistant to drugs therapy.

Resident physician  of Neurological Department #2 of Kharkiv City Students Hospital (KhCSH), Oleinik S.V. prepared a report on the effectiveness of non-benzodiazepine anxyolytics in the treatment of autonomic disorders in young persons and concluded that in clinical conditions was obtained confirmation of  experimental data concerning the presence of anxiolytic action from Strezam. Complex therapy using the drug Strezam increases the effectiveness of autonomic dysfunction treatment.

Resident physician  of  Gastroenterological Department  #2 HMSL  Shevchenko N.O. reported on the efficacy of probiotics from the standpoint of evidence-based medicine. There were demonstrated resources of Kohranovska library containing metanalysis, placebo-controlled studies and can reasonably apply different antibiotics in diarrhea of different etiology.

Resident physician  of Neurological Department #2 HMSL Saliy A.V.  reported on the effectiveness of multimodal analgesia in the treatment of pain syndrome of vertebrogenic genesis. By the  results of the work it can be concluded that: using monotherapy with NSAIDs reduction of  pain in the first 7 days of treatment is 46.6% lower than with the combined use of Acupan and ketoprofen. Application of Acupan with ketoprofen in complex treatment of acute pain syndrome of  vertebrogenic origin is relevant, because the drug shows high analgesic activity.

Assistant of the Department of Pharmacology with Clinical Pharmacology of ДВНЗ “Ternopil State Medical University named after  I. Y. Gorbachevskiy”, Volska A.S. presented a report on the prevention of liver injury by  paracetamol using thiotriazoline.

Report of the Head of Pharmacotherapy Department of NUPh, Kireyev I.V. concerned the effectiveness of probiotics use in preventing antibiotic-associated diarrhea. The conducted researches show perspective of Enterol use in standard scheme of  anti-helicobacter therapy, by reducing the frequency  of antibiotic-associated diarrhea, normalization of   intestinal microflora and better tolerability of anti-helicobacter therapy.

Senior Researcher  of Pharmacology Laboratory of State Enterprise  “Institute of Endocrine Pathology named after V.Y. Danilevsky of the Academy of Medical Sciences of Ukraine” Brechka N.M. reported about spermatogenesis disorder in rats after  irradiation and its correction by chondroitin sulfate (CS). Thus, CS, which was inserted to rats for correction after the total exposure, increases the “resistance” of spermatoblast population, reduces postponed death of these cells. The result is an increase of tubule number with renewed formation of gametes. Thus, CS has a radioadaptative action.

Assistant of the Department of Pediatrics and Neonatology of the Faculty of Postgraduate education  of Lviv National Medical University, Head of Neonatal Department of Lviv regional perinatal center, Kunovska L.M. reported about the impact of probiotics on the formation of intestinal microflora in neonates with clinical signs of antenatal contamination.

Associate Professor of Phthisiology  and Pulmonology of KhMAPE,  Lebid L.V.  made a report on the dynamics of intoxication syndrome in patients with destructive pulmonary tuberculosis.There was determined the  dependence of the severity of intoxication syndrome and its dynamics of availability destruction of lung tissue and the stability of MBT to antituberculous drugs. Endogenous intoxication in patients with destructive pulmonary tuberculosis with multidrug resistant strains MBT remains long and tends to increase after three months of chemotherapy, which proves the need for intensive long-detoxication therapy.

Report of the postgraduate student of the  National Medical University named after  A.A. Bogomolets, Butko A.Y. was about  pre-clinical study of the content of volatile compounds in different types of error. Based on the report the following conclusions were made: medicinal herbs and drugs made on their  basis are very effective means of pharmacotherapy, which indicates the prospective of this area for medicine and pharmacy. The received  data suggests the practicability of more detailed analysis of separate components of the investigated materials to develop a new domestic product in the future.

Assistant of Pharmacy Department of Ivano-Frankivsk State Medical University, Melnik G.I. reported on morphological and anatomical diagnostics of herbal drug as a way to detect impurities of poisonous plants in raw materials.

Senior assistant of Pharmacotherapy Department of NUPh, Matviychuk O.P. reported on the conducted computer prognosis of possible pharmacological activity types of derivatives of 3-methylxanthine. Taking into account the results of computer prognosis of the spectrum of pharmacological activity of derivatives of 7.8-disubstituted 3-methylxanthine using the PASS program it was planned to conduct pharmacological screening on laboratory animals in the study of diuretic, hypotensive, bronchodilators activities in a row of derivatives of 7.8-disubstituted 3-methylxanthine.

Associate Professor of Analytical Chemistry Department of Zaporozhye State Medical University, Korzhova A.S. reported on aspects of teaching of  analytical chemistry for students by specialty “Technology of perfumery and cosmetics” in a credit-module system of education. The  conclusions were made that the introduction of credit-module system helps to solve important problems of higher education in Ukraine and allows you to objectively evaluate students’ knowledge and encourages students to study.

Report of the Postgraduate student of Pathologic Physiology Department of NUPh, Kavushevska N.S. concerned antiexudative and antimicrobial activity of dental gel “Lizostom”. Thus, the highest level of antiexudative and antimicrobial activity shows gel sample # 2 (code name “Lizostom”), consisting of 0.3% lysozyme, base – 2.0% ГЕЦ, which is the reason for its further pharmacological study as a mean for treating inflammatory diseases of the soft periodontal tissues.

In the course of the conference there were broadly discussed the issues raised in the reports. Rector of NUPh, Professor  Chernykh V.P., Prof. Samura B.A., Prof.  Kireyev I.V., Prof.  Bereznyakov I.G., Prof.  Poteyko P. I., Prof.  Tsodikova O.A., Prof Zvyagintseva T.D., Prof. Gladchenko O.M., Prof. Morozova E.G., Associate Prof. Martsynik E.M. and others took an active part in the discussion. The participants were satisfied with information received from the speakers.

By the conference  materials there was published a collected book “Medicines for   men”.  A resolution to implement in practice researches and information on current issues concerning creation, trials and use of medicines was adopted.
