Regional competition “Higher School of Kharkiv Region – the Best Names” was established in 1999. During this period, more than 750 university professors became awards and diplomas winners. Kharkiv region is the recognized capital of students; there are 86 higher education institutions with 200 thousand students here. The foreign student population is more than 20 thousand from 122 countries. Educational process is provided by mare than 20,500 academic-teaching and pedagogical workers, including1993 Doctors of Science, 1704 Professors, 6423 Associate Professors and 9117 Candidates of Sciences.
Member of the NAS of Ukraine, Corresponding Member of the NAPS of Ukraine, Rector of V.N. Karazin KNU, Chairman of the Rectors’ Council of higher education institutions of the III-IV accreditation levels of Kharkiv university center V.S. Balirov opened the awarding ceremony and made the welcome speech for the educators of Kharkiv region. Greeting speeches for the educators of Slobozhanshchina were also made by honorable guest of the ceremony – First Deputy Minister of Education and Science of Ukraine I.R. Sovsun.
Award ceremony of the XVI regional competition “Higher School of Kharkiv Region – the Best Names” began with the nomination “For wisdom and dedication to education”, which was established in 2006, and the peculiarity of this year’s competition was introduction of a new nomination – “For the noble example of service to the Ukrainian people.”
