On April 14-18, 2015, career guidance week “Confident steps to the professional future” was held in the NUPh

The week was begun with seminar-workshops and trainings. Scope of the proposed measures was very diverse: technology of job search, job search via the Internet, formation of the professional skills of medical representative, effective communications, technological aspects of production of the sterile medications, analysis of key economic indicators in the pharmacy, successful employment, etc.

In general, 11 workshops, lectures, and seminars were conducted by experts of Kharkiv regional employment center, LLC «SV Trade», training center of Eurasia travel business “RABOTA MECHTY”, group of companies “Lekhim”, Internet service “Work in Kharkiv”, LLC “Serv’ye-Ukraine”, LLC “Pharmastore” (network of pharmacies “Pharmacy of Good Day”), psychological service of the NUPh. The program of seminar-workshops following Kharkiv regional employment center presents requirements for the structure of resumes on the website «Business in Kharkiv” – templates of resumes on the website «rabota.ua» – recommendations on how to make a perfect resume.

On April 16, 2015, scientific and practical conference “Current issues of practical training of the NUPh students in Ukraine and abroad” was held in the framework of career guidance week “Confident steps to the professional future”.

Since 2009, finalization procedures concerning the results of students’ practical training take place at the departments of the university, which manage practical training of students. They are held together with representatives of the practical training bases and heads of the practical training. Since 2014, universitywide conference has acquired the status of scientific and practical: participants represent not only the reports on the results of the practice, but also fragments of researches of the teachers, employers and students.

In her welcome speech at the opening of the conference, First Vice-Rector for scientific and pedagogical work of the NUPh, Professor A.A. Kotvitska said: “All the activities that we traditionally conduct within the career guidance week in the NUPh are designed to ensure that our graduate was aware, prepared and felt well in the labor market. Higher education can not develop as a closed system, it includes interconnection of universities, students and employers – those components that ensure the successful professional future. NUPh always supported cooperation with other HEIs and with practical pharmacy. Today, our work is constructed so as to hear the views of employers and labor market requirements, which apply to the graduates. I encourage students to actively participate in this event.”

O.O. Palchyk, director of LLC “Smart Wender Trade” – general sponsor of career guidance week in the NUPh – thanked for the opportunity to attend the event: “Taking part in such events in other HEIs in Kharkiv, I can say that such high-quality training, such attitude to students, sponsors and employers I have not seen. Thank you for this. We are united by common goal – to help young professionals find a worthy place in the labor market. This is why our company has conducted several workshops that were aimed to prepare students for future professional life. Close cooperation allows to employ university graduates, and companies – to find new      productive and efficient employees.”

During the conference, participants were presented the reports of the heads and representatives of practical training bases on the requirements of employers to the system of professional knowledge, personal qualities and professional skills of the future professional; increasing in participation of employers’ organizations in practical  training; youth development programs; deepening of the ties between education and practice.

At the plenary session, domestic and foreign students discussed in their reports the modern requirements of employers to the competence-based model of pharmacist, issues of the role of practical training in preparation of future competitive specialist; formation of practical skills in the training of future specialist. For the first time in the conference participated students of the part-time form of training V.P. Svydlo who reported on the role of in-depth study of the subject “First pre-medical aid” unit “Phlebotomy” in the professional training of future pharmacists, and the NUPh College student M.K. Gaponenko who made a comparative analysis of industrial and pharmacy-based production of ointments.

The working languages of the conference were Ukrainian, Russian and English. It should be noted that during the conference employers and students-speakers exchanged contacts, which no doubt will develop into a successful cooperation and employment in the future.

On April 17, 2015, “Job Fair NUPh – 2015” was held in the framework of the career guidance week.

Job Fair is a traditional event in the walls of the NUPh, which every year is attended by more and more NUPh students and the NUPh College students. At the fair, future graduates can get acquainted with vacancies of the leading pharmaceutical companies of Ukraine and Kharkiv, and start thinking about their career while they are students.

Grand opening of the Job Fair was attended by representatives of the administration, heads of the Departments, heads of structural subdivisions, NUPh staff and honorary guests – Ya.M. Kashuba, head of the State Employment Service (Head of the Central Office), Yu.O. Svitlychna, Deputy Head of Kharkiv Regional State Administration, V.L. Minenko, director of the Kharkiv regional employment center.

First Vice-Rector for scientific and pedagogical work of the NUPh, Professor A.A. Kotvitska welcomed participants and guests at the opening of the Fair: “University staff is very committed to their mission – to train personnel for the pharmaceutical sector in health care. Our university has the status of National and we are proud that there are no unemployed among our graduates.

Let our Job Fair, which is the glorious tradition of the National University of Pharmacy, will be held in the atmosphere of constructive interaction of science, education, practical pharmacy. Let our patients and the entire population of Ukraine always be provided with educated personnel and high-quality medicines.”

Yu.O. Svitlychna, referring to the students of National University of Pharmacy, said: “Kharkiv is a city of students, Kharkiv is young and energetic, and you prove it with your potential. I wish you realize yourselves in the profession.

Believe that the senior executives of Kharkiv regional state administration fully support and develops the sphere of education. We prepare development concept of secondary and higher education. Hopefully your institution will join this work. We will work on the new projects that will help you realize yourselves as individuals, find perspective and well paid jobs. “

“Today we open a serious and interesting event, which has already become traditional. It is important for each university to prepare highly qualified personnel. Your university is a leader in the field of training of specialists for the pharmaceutical industry. Students, who graduate from this educational institution, get jobs and have a good salary. Employment Center, which organized this Job Fair together with University, gives you the opportunity to move in the right direction, to have an understanding that you will be in demand as specialists,”- said Ya.M. Kashuba.

This year, 400 vacancies were presented by employers of 19 largest pharmaceutical companies and holdings at the Job Fair, which was held with the support of Kharkiv regional employment center. It was attended by PF “GAMMA-55” Pharmacy Chain 9-1-1, LLC “Med-service Kharkov”, LLC “AE-COM”, LLC “Pharmastore”, network “Pharmacy of Good Day”, LLC “Prana – Pharm”, “Pharmacy № 1”, “EkonomApteka”, Pharmacies “YOUR CONSULTANT” of the VC group of companies, LLC “LERS”, holding “Unipharma”, LLC “Pharmacy № 9”, LLC “Kusum Pharm”, PJSC “Technologist”, LLC “Serv’ye Ukraine”, PJSC «SUN InBev Ukraine», LLC “Smart Wender Trade”, German Institute – «Deutsches Institut», educational agency Studex LLC, LLC “Global Bilgi”, training center “Rabota Mechty”, Internet Service “Work in Kharkiv”.

At Fair was used booth equipment, employers presented vacancies, employment service equipped the sector, where everyone could pass psychological tests, see the availability of jobs in all regions of Ukraine, receive resume writing skills and master the technique of interview with a potential employer.

Round table was held on to the results of the Job Fair, organizers and participants summed up the work of projects aimed at successful employment of the NUPh students and the NUPh College students.

Students note the high popularity of the Job Fair and its benefits. Yevgeniy Konovalenko, 2nd course student of the Pharmaceutical Faculty said: “I think that the Job Fair if necessary for students, because now it is difficult now to find a job, especially for young specialists immediately after graduation. This gives good prospects, introduces the new trends in employment. Personally, I am attracted by large pharmacy chains that are widespread in Ukraine, because it gives the opportunity to be employed in almost any city. I am interested in the career growth and the opportunity to realize myself from a professional point of view”.

Specialties Fair, held on April 18, finished the career guidance week, and was addressed to protective students.

Specialties Fair was attended by school pupils, college students and their parents, and HEIs’ graduates who want to get a second degree. In the framework of this project, the NUPh guests were able to obtain detailed information on specialties that are in demand in the labor market. Those boys and girls, who have not yet decided on the future profession were helped to identify their predisposition to a particular profession through career guidance tests with the help of the staff of Kharkiv regional employment center that provided support in organization of the event.

In the Specialties Fair participated nearly 200 students from Kharkiv, Donetsk, Zhytomyr, Luhansk, Sumy, Vinnytsa regions and from different districts of Kharkiv.
