On May 28, 2025, a new project ‘Pharmaceutical Scientific Schools of Slobozhanshchyna’ was launched at the National University of Pharmacy.

The project was opened by a scientific school of the organizational and economic block – to the 15th anniversary of the scientific school of Doctor of Pharmaceutical Sciences, Professor, Honored Worker of Science and Technology of Ukraine Alla KOTVITSKA.

The organizational and economic school accumulates and transmits the experience of setting and solving scientific tasks, unique scientific values and traditions, produces new knowledge and applies it in personnel training.

The scientific basis of many successfully implemented state programs – reimbursement, reference pricing, import substitution, assessment of healthcare technologies – was laid by the organizational and economic scientific school of the National University of Pharmacy.

Currently, the school operates and develops at the Department of Social Pharmacy of the National University of Pharmacy, which was established on July 1, 2011. The department is headed by Professor Alla KOTVITSKA. The department is the first, and only in Ukraine, an expert centre with a powerful scientific team.

Among the main areas of scientific research of the department are:
– substantiation and improvement of socially effective mechanisms for ensuring the availability of pharmaceutical care (organization of reimbursement systems for the cost of medicines under market economy conditions and health insurance of the population);
– research into the regulatory and legal issues of the circulation of medicines, harmonization of domestic legislation in accordance with EU requirements;
– pharmacoeconomic and socio-economic studies of the use of medicines.

The practical implementation of the project ‘Pharmaceutical Scientific Schools of Slobozhanshchyna’ for the 15th anniversary of the scientific school of Professor Alla KOTVITSKA took place by holding the 10th scientific and practical conference ‘Social Pharmacy: Status, Problems and Prospects’, as well as the round table ‘Pharmaceutical Literacy: From Science to Practice’.

The scientific and practical event was held with the participation of the State Expert Centre of the Ministry of Health of Ukraine and the State Service of Ukraine for Medicines and Drug Control.

The participants of the event were welcomed by the Acting Rector of the National University of Pharmacy Alla KOTVITSKA, Director of the State Expert Centre of the Ministry of Health of Ukraine Mykhailo BABENKO, Deputy Head of the State Service of Ukraine for Medicines and Drug Control Volodymyr KOROLENKO, as well as the Vice-Rector for Research and Development of the National University of Pharmacy Inna VLADYMYROVA and the Head of the Department of Social Pharmacy Alina VOLKOVA.

Further work of the Conference continued in the following areas:
– development of effective directions of the concept of social pharmacy and analysis of modern trends of digitalization and information support of the healthcare sector;
– regulatory and legal issues of pharmaceutical provision of the population and trends of management of the pharmaceutical sector of the healthcare system;
– research of social trends of development of management and marketing, responsibility of business in pharmacy, analysis of problems of state (public) administration, regulation of pharmaceutical activity in Ukraine and public movement in pharmacy;
– development of socially effective mechanisms of improvement of pharmaceutical provision of the population in Ukraine;
– comprehensive research of issues of rational pharmacotherapy as the main element of organization of effective and safe pharmaceutical provision of the population, using methods of clinical and economic analysis;
– development of methodological principles of medical technology assessment (MTA) and their implementation in practical healthcare and educational environment;
– commodity analysis of pharmacy assortment products presented on the Ukrainian market;
– historical, sociopsychological and moral-ethical aspects of the organization of pharmaceutical activities in international and domestic practice;
– problems of teaching organizational and economic educational components in institutions of higher medical and pharmaceutical education.

In total, the participants were offered 13 reports under the program of the scientific and practical event.

More than 200 participants from all regions of Ukraine joined the conference and the round table.
