On October 16, 2024, a scientific and practical seminar was held for the World Food Day

Balanced nutrition as a component of a healthy lifestyle
On October 16, 2024, a scientific and practical seminar ‘Balanced nutrition as a component of a healthy lifestyle’ was held before the World Food Day. The purpose of the event is to popularize the concept of healthy and rational nutrition.

More than 200 representatives of institutions of higher education, vocational pre-university education, general secondary education, scientific institutions and practical medicine and pharmacy became participants in the event.

The seminar began with a welcoming speech by the vice-rector, professor Inna VLADYMYROVOYA, in which it was stated that the World Food Day was introduced with the aim of spreading information and raising people’s awareness of healthy eating. An informative video from the participants of the Student Scientific Society (SSS) was also presented made by Yevgenia KOMISSAROVA, head of the SNS, 2nd-year students Svitlana NOSOVA and Vladyslava MIKHNO.

At the seminar, reports were presented on the following issues:

  • HACCP is an effective tool or a burden. Peculiarities of introduction on the Ukrainian market, – Kristina KRYVONOS, candidate of medical sciences, associate professor of the department of hygiene and social medicine of the medical faculty of Kharkiv Karazin National University, director of the communal enterprise Sanepidservice of the Kharkiv City Council.
  • What does nutritionology study, who are nutritionists and what do they do? – Oleg SHVETS, candidate of medical sciences, professor, head of the Department of Public Health and Nutrition of the National University of Bioresources and Nature Management of Ukraine, president of the Association of Dietitians of Ukraine, physician-therapist of the highest category, physician-gastroenterologist of the highest category, physician-dietiologist of the highest category.
  • Basics of healthy nutrition. Sugar, salt and trans fats are a danger that we may not be aware of – Mykhailo BIBIKOV, a nutritionist at the Department of Epidemiological Surveillance and Prevention of Non-Communicable Diseases of the Kharkiv Regional Center for Disease Control and Prevention of the Ministry of Health of Ukraine.
  • Nutritional support of palliative patients – Valentina Nesterenko, Candidate of Medical Sciences, Associate Professor of the Department of Public Health and Health Care Management of the Kharkiv National Medical University.
  • The basics of healthy eating. Nutrition under stress – Svitlana Svichkar, endocrinologist, nutritionist, medical psychologist.

    The presented reports aroused lively interest and discussion.

    The seminar ended with summing up the results and words of thanks to the participants and speakers.
