The event was organized by the Ministry of Health of Ukraine, the National University of Pharmacy, the SO “Kharkiv Regional Association of Pharmaceutical Workers”, the PU “Pharmaceutical League of Ukraine”.
The official ceremony took place at the Premier Palace Hotel Kharkiv.
The ceremony began with the performance of the National Anthem of Ukraine by the choir of the National Opera “East Opera” under the direction of Honored Artist of Ukraine Oleksii Chernikin and a congratulatory letter from the President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelenskyi.
The Rector of NUPh Alla Kotvitska greeted the academic community and guests of the celebration. The symbol of the holiday was the medicinal plant aloe tree.”And this is not accidental,” said the Rector of NUPh. – “Aloe has been used for thousands of years in the treatment of various diseases. This is an incredibly rich plant with useful components, containing trace elements, minerals, vitamins A, B1, B2, B3, B6, B9, C, antioxidants, amino acids, tannins, flavonoids…. And this is not a complete list! It is believed that if a person has aloe at home, he will live a great lifetime. That is why today we give our partners this healing plant for a long life.”
Alla Kotvitska presented the genetic code of the National University of Pharmacy to the community. “Two-thirds of our team are graduates of the National University of Pharmacy,” she said. – “We are the only pharmaceutical family that is strong, smart, authoritative, for which there are no insurmountable challenges. Pharmacy is our life, it is in our hearts, and it is a way of life, not only a profession! Pharmacy is inherent in us genetically! That is why we have generated and researched the genetic code of the National University of Pharmacy. Purely biological, the genetic code is a sequence of nucleotides that form DNA, which is a carrier of genetic information for transmission to the future generations. If we project this biological concept on the University, the genetic code of NUPh, in our opinion, can be defined as inviolable rules that encode our activities, ensure the quality of education and science. The genetic code transmits to the world our corporate values, traditions and development strategy.”
The celebration on the occasion of the 100th anniversary of NUPh was attended by representatives of government agencies, the Administration of Kharkiv region and the city, pharmaceutical industries, pharmacy chains, information field, self-government organizations, colleagues, University partners from Ukraine and abroad.
The staff of the anniversary University was greeted by Mykhailo Cherniak, Deputy Head of the Kharkiv Regional State Administration, Albert Kononenko, First Deputy Head of the Kharkiv Regional Council, Svitlana Horbunova-Ruban, Deputy of Mayor of Kharkiv for Health and Social Protection, Serhii Kuzminykh, People’s Deputy of Ukraine, First Deputy of Minister of Health of Ukraine Oleksandr Komarida, Deputy Secretary of the National Security and Defense Council of Ukraine Oleksii Soloviov, Head of the State Service of Ukraine for Medicines and Drug Control Roman Isaienko, Head of the Northeast Research Center of the National Academy of Sciences and the Ministry of Education and Science of Ukraine, Academician of the National Academy of Sciences of Ukraine Volodymyr Seminozhenko, Head of the Northeastern Research Center of the National Academy of Medical Sciences of Ukraine and the Ministry of Health of Ukraine, Laureate of the State Prizes of Ukraine in Science and Technology, Academician of the National Academy of Medical Sciences of Ukraine Oleksandr Bilovol, Head of the Regional Committee of the Kharkiv Regional Organization of the Trade Union of Healthcare Workers of Ukraine Alona Blahovishchenska, Head of the Board of the All-Ukrainian Chamber of Pharmacy Oleh Klimov, President of the Moroccan Association of Ukrainian University Alumni Raduan Dakhmi, 1990 graduate of the National University of Pharmacy, Doctor of medical sciences Kamal Rizaiev.
Congratulations to NUPh came from the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine, the Cabinet of Ministers of Ukraine, as well as video messages from the Rector of Vytautas Magnus University, Academician Juozas Augutis (Lithuania) and the International Federation of Pharmacists.
The staff of the National University of Pharmacy was awarded with the Diploma of the Regional State Administration at the Regional Council – for significant achievements in the development and strengthening of Pharmacy, pharmaceutical education and science and on the occasion of the 100th anniversary of its founding; the Diploma of the National Academy of Sciences of Ukraine – for significant personal contribution to the health care and pharmaceutical sector, national economy by qualified specialists, close cooperation with the National Academy of Sciences of Ukraine, active promotion of innovative development of the region and on the occasion of the 100th anniversary of its founding.
Also during the celebrations, individual representatives of the NUPh staff were awarded with rewards of different levels, and the University staff received the award of the festival-competition “Choice of Ukraine”.
As a part of the holiday, the ceremony of awarding the title of “Honorary Doctor of NUPh” took place.

As part of the celebrations, the NUPh initiative to support the best applicants for higher education was implemented i.e. the project “Personal scholarships from employers.”
Personal scholarships from the Pharmacy Chain “9-1-1”, Joint stock company “Pharmak”, pharmaceutical company “Yuri-Pharm”, chemical and pharmaceutical plant “Red Star”, “Pharmaceutical Company “Health”, the company “Morion” were received by 20 senior applicants for higher education of the University.
During the holiday there was a presentation of the anniversary medal “To the 100th anniversary of NUPh”, made by the National Bank of Ukraine.
The medal was minted at the Banknote-Mint of the National Bank of Ukraine and it is a symbol of statehood and a rich source of information about important age events, traditions and culture. The memorable anniversary medal has artistic value. It is made of nickel silver, the minting quality category is “special uncirculated”, weight is 16.5 g, diameter is 35.0 mm, circulation is 20,000 units. Coin band is corrugated.
On the obverse of the medal there are the following things: at the top – the inscription UKRAINE and the small State Emblem of Ukraine, under which the year of minting 2021 can be found; University building; semicircular inscriptions National University of Pharmacy; logo of the Mint of the National Bank of Ukraine can be found on it.
On the reverse of the medal on a mirror background can be found the logo of the University; pharmacy mortar; inscriptions: Education with traditions / 100 / NUPh.
The first copies of the anniversary medal were presented by the Rector of NUPh Alla Kotvitska to the honorary Rector of NUPh Valentyn Chernykh and to the first-year applicants for higher education of the anniversary 2021 Dar`ia Klochko.
The University community and guests of the celebration witnessed the presentation of the anniversary stamp and the envelope made by Ukrpost, and as well as the special cancellation ceremony of the Own stamp.
The stamp contains a text message made in the author’s font, which says “100 years. The National University of Pharmacy. September 10, 2021. We are opening a new century.” The circulation of the stamp is 1,400 units.
The envelope shows the building of the main building of the University and the main slogan of our University “Education with traditions”. Circulation of the envelope is 1,000 units.
The Rector of NUPh Alla Kotvitska, director of the Kharkiv branch of Ukrpost Yurii Savchenko, first-year applicants for higher education who entered the University in the anniversary year – Anna Samsonenko (educational program “Pharmacy”) and Nazar Kalinovych (educational program “Clinical Pharmacy”) took part in the special cancellation ceremony of the envelope with the stamp of the project “Own Stamp”.
Due to the 100th anniversary of NUPh, the University staff created a number of anniversary publications such as the monograph “Alma Mater – History of the Century”, edited by Academician of the National Academy of Sciences of Ukraine Valentyn Chernykh; photo album “Architectural Formulas of Pharmacy” and the monograph “National University of Pharmacy through the Centuries: a Historical and Architectural Essay”; monograph “The art of Pharmaceutical Business: from its Origins to the Present”; monograph “Scientific Scholars of the National University of Pharmacy”.
These unique publications, which combined the history and future of the only University of Pharmacy in Ukraine, appeared with the support of partners of the National University of Pharmacy i.e. the company “Pharmak”, the company “Borshchahiv Chemical and Pharmaceutical Plant”, the chemical and pharmaceutical plant “Red Star”.
The celebration at the Premier Palace Hotel Kharkiv ended up with the Commemorative awards to the University partners who joined the celebration. Commemorative awards were given to the following people: general partner pharmaceutical company ananta medicare, general information partner LLC “Morion”, the “Pharmacy Weekly”, JSC “Pharmak”, JSC “Kyiv Vitamin Plant”, “Pharmaceutical Company “Health”, “Scientific and Production Center “Borshchahiv Chemical and Pharmaceutical Plant”, Asino Pharma Start Company, Pharmacy Chain 9-1-1, Kharkiv Regional Trade Union of Healthcare Workers of Ukraine, company “Bionorika”, JSC “Stoma”, the chemical and pharmaceutical plant “Red Star”, company “Valartin Pharma”, the company “INTERCHEM”, “Innovative Research and Production Clinical and Pharmaceutical Center “Synergy”, company “Kusum Pharm”, Trade and Industrial Company “Ergocom”, company “Medhouse Svis”, the company “Keys to Health” “I”, Ltd. Enterprise with Foreign Investment “ECONIA”.
At the end of the celebrations, the Premier Palace Hotel Kharkiv hosted a scientific seminar for representatives of Practical Pharmacy and Medicine “Implementation of modern advances in Pharmacy and Medicine in the activities of pharmacists and general practitioners”, where participants were offered reports by opinion leaders from Sanofi Aventis, Joint-Stock Company “Kyiv Vitamin Plant”, Bionorika company.
During the whole day, the International Exhibition of Achievements of Pharmaceutical Production “Pharmacy Unites: Partnership through the Years” took place in the lobby of the Premier Palace Hotel Kharkiv.
At the same time, the anniversary events continued in the largest educational building of NUPh – the chemical and technological one. The University community and guests of the celebration took part in the presentation of the anniversary cake, took part in the eco-flashmob “Plant a tree: a symbol of prosperity and spiritual culture of mankind”, planted two red oaks on the area of the University, and visited a retro exhibition of rare and valuable publications “Pearls of the scientific heritage of the university”, an exhibition of publications “Scientific schools of the University”.
The final chord of events on the basis of NUPh was a scientific-practical seminar “Quality as a tradition”, organized by Asino Pharma Start.
The anniversary day ended with a pharmaceutical ball, a concert by the Prime Orchestra Symphony Orchestra, and fireworks on the main square of Kharkiv.
