UDС 615.017:616.079; 615. 2/.3.001.37 THE EXPERIMENTAL STUDY OF THE HYPOURICEMIC ACTIVITY OF COMMON BURDOCK THICK EXTRACTS Mohamad Mahmud Assaf, K.G.Shchokina, S.M.Drogovoz

It is known that the high content of uric acid in the blood is not only a cause of gout and gouty arthritis, one of the most common joint disease, but a contributing factor of the metabolic syndrome, a risk factor for acute renal failure and chronic hypertension, stroke, insulin resistance, etc. The article shows the results of the experimental study of the hypouricemic effect of thick extracts of common burdock roots and leaves on the model of the oxonate-inducing hyperuricemia in rats. It has been proven that the common burdock roots extract (25 mg/kg) has the hypouricemic effect, which is not inferior to allopurinol in the dose 10 mg/kg by its intensity. In contrast to allopurinol common burdock roots extract has the uricosuric effect too. the common burdock leaves extract in the dose of 25 mg/kg tends to the hypouricemic and uricosuric action. The thick extracts of common burdock roots and leaves have the diuretic effect, in its mechanism of action the increase in rate of glomerular filtration takes part.
