The problem of the rational therapy of chronic prostatitis and prostatic hyperplasia is complex and still far from being solved. The search and creation of new safe prostate protectors with a complex pharmacological effect that could simultaneously affect different pathogenetic links of BPH and chronic prostatitis are very important and relevant. The article shows the results of the pharmacological study of the antiproliferative and antioxidant activity of thick extracts of burdock roots and leaves on the model of cotton granuloma in rats, which is a model of inflammation with predominance of the proliferative phase of inflammation. It has been proven that the greatest anti-inflammatory and antioxidant effects were shown by extracts of burdock root and burdock leaves in the dose of 75 mg/kg. Moreover, by the antiproliferative, antioxidant effect and influence on the state of the AOS of the experimental animals the burdock root extract in the same doses exceeds the effect of burdock leaves extract.

Key words: thick extracts of burdock roots and leaves, chronic prostatitis, antiproliferative, antioxidant effect
