On December 2, 2024, the National University of Pharmacy held a round table MODERN ASPECTS AND INNOVATIONS IN PREVENTION AND TREATMENT OF HIV INFECTION, AIDS on World AIDS Day

On December 2, 2024, the Department of Clinical Laboratory Diagnostics, Microbiology and Biological Chemistry of the National University of Pharmacy hosted an annual event dedicated to World AIDS Day: the round table MODERN ASPECTS AND INNOVATIONS IN PREVENTION AND TREATMENT OF HIV INFECTION, AIDS.

The topics of the event included issues regarding theories of the origin of the infectious agent, the importance of virus variability for the development of treatment and prevention measures. Special attention was paid to the issues of modern diagnostics, the advantages of using immunochromatographic and electrochemiluminescent diagnostic methods, the method of determining HIV infection by rapid test. The algorithm of primary diagnosis of HIV infection and the issue of the prospects for the development of preventive and therapeutic vaccines were considered in detail. Taking into account the specifics of HIV/AIDS, the report ‘Prevention of HIV infection: state level, personal level and post-exposure prophylaxis’ was presented.

The event was attended by 25  students in the areas of training Pharmacy, Laboratory diagnostics, Clinical pharmacy and teachers of the department.
