Gritsenko Ivan Semenovych

GRITSENKO IVAN SEMENOVYCH, Doctor of Chemistry, Professor, the Honored worker of education of Ukraine, the Laureate of State Ukrainian Award in the sphere of science and technology, the First Vice-rector of National University of Pharmacy, the Head of Medicinal Chemistry Department.

Ivan Semenovych Gritsenko was born in 1949 in Timchenky, Sumy region. He completed school in 1964 and entered Lebedyn Medical College.

1968-1970 – served in the Soviet Army.

1970-1975 – studied at Kharkov pharmaceutical Institute.

1975-1982 – worked as a head of regional chemist’s №9 in Velikaya Pisarevka (Sumy Region).

1982-1985 – studied as a post graduate student at organic chemistry department of  Kharkov Pharmaceutical  Institute.

In 1985   Ivan S. Gritsenko successfully defended thesis for scientific degree of the candidate of pharmaceutical sciences on the topic “Synthesis, physico-chemical studies and biological activity of succinic acid arensulfohydrazides” (supervisor – prof. V.P. Chernych).

In 1992 Ivan S. Gritsenko defended the thesis for the scientific degree of Doctor of Chemistry on the topic “Synthesis, transformations and biological activity of hydrazide derivatives of arensulfonic acids”.

1992-2002 – worked as a professor at organic chemistry department;

2002 – was appointed a Vice-rector on scientific work.

2004 – became the head of medicinal chemistry department National University of Pharmacy.

Since 2005 – he works as First Vice-rector of National University of Pharmacy.

Awards:

«The Laureate of Yaroslav the Wise Award» of Academy of Sciences of Higher School of Ukraine (1997);

«The Laureate of State Ukrainian Award in the sphere of science and technology» (2000);

«The Honored worker of education of Ukraine» (2006);

Diploma of the Ministry of Health of Ukraine (1992);

Diploma of the KharkivRegionalState Administration (1996, 2004);

Diploma of the Ministry of Education and Science of Ukraine (2002);

Diploma of the Cabinet of Ministers of Ukraine (2010). 

Scientific works:

Published more than 200 works, including those coauthored: 2 textbooks, 4 handbooks, 23 methodological recommendations, 48 patents for an invention and author’s certificates.

Ivan S. Gritsenko has prepared three candidates of science:

  • E.A. Tsapko – “Chemical transformation and biological activity of the compounds synthesized from N-anthranoylhydrazide of (±)-camphoric acid” (2008).
  • I.N. Podolsky – “Synthesis, physico-chemical and biological properties of alkylderivatives of 2-methyl-1H-quinolin-4-ones” (2009).
  • T.A. Tsapko – “Synthesis, physico-chemical properties and biological activity of sulfonic derivatives of 4-methyl-1,2-dihydroquinolin-2-ones” (2010).

Doctor’s dissertation have been completed under the direction of Ivan S. Gritsenko:

  • V.A. Zubkov (2013).

Candidate’s dissertations have been planned under the direction of Ivan S. Gritsenko:

  • 2 postgraduates with work being discontinued: T.A. Alexeenko, D.A. Mamedova. 

Professor Ivan S. Gritsenko lectures the following disciplines: “Medicinal chemistry”, “Pharmaceutical chemistry”.

Hobby: Work in the garden (growing grapes and flowers, grafting trees).
