On September 27-28, 2024, the IV NATIONAL CONGRESS OF PHYSICAL AND REHABILITATION MEDICINE ‘Ten years of development of physical and rehabilitation medicine in a difficult period of trials for Ukraine: achievements, challenges, prospects’ was held in Kyiv in a hybrid format (offline and online).
The congress was dedicated to the 100th anniversary of the Department of Rehabilitation Medicine, Physical Therapy and Sports Medicine of the P. L. Shupyk National University of Health Care of Ukraine and the 10th anniversary of the NGO Ukrainian Society of Physical and Rehabilitation Medicine.
The head of the Department of Physical Rehabilitation and Health, Hanna Tamozhanska, and students of the master’s level of the specialty Therapy and Rehabilitation joined this event.
This year, for the first time, the congress was held with the support of the World Health Organization. Plenary sessions, master classes, and workshops on multiprofessional rehabilitation assistance to the wounded and war-affected were held within the congress. Scientific and practical reports from leading foreign and domestic specialists were also devoted to other areas of rehabilitation medicine: neurology, traumatology, cardiology, rehabilitation in pediatric practice, in sports medicine and Paralympic sports; organizations of rehabilitation assistance in communities; psychotherapeutic aspects of rehabilitation and mental health of society.
The joint opinion of leading specialists in the field of rehabilitation, their joint efforts and the general goal of improving physical and rehabilitation medicine in Ukraine will become a real catalyst for the continuation of successful changes in the field of rehabilitation. Congress participants received not only valuable knowledge but also vivid impressions from the most powerful event in the field of physical and rehabilitation medicine in Ukraine in 2024.
The event was organized by the Ministry of Health of Ukraine, WHO Country Office in Ukraine, Foreign, Commonwealth & Development Office, P.L. Shupyk National University of Health of Ukraine, NGO Ukrainian Society of Physical and Rehabilitation Medicine, Charitable Development Fund innovations RIMON and LLC Projects Inn, with the support of the NGO All-Ukrainian Association of Physical Therapists and Protez Hub.
This congress became an important testimony that, despite all the challenges, Ukraine continues to step forward, supporting each of its citizens, especially those who need help on the way to recovery.
