DO YOU WANT TO TRAVEL? GET STARTED RIGHT NOW!

Екскурсія в Полтаву фото 2All people are making plans for the future.

“I’m waiting for summer to go on vacation.”

“When I graduate from the university and gather money, I’ll go on a journey”

At the same time they don’t think that the time passes and past can’t be returned. And we must live so that, looking back, we would have a lot of exciting adventures, bright impressions and wonderful memories.

In our university, there is an opportunity to travel jolly, amusing and at a low price. Associate Professors of the Department of Philosophy and Sociology, Alla Pavlivna Lantukh and Anna Oleksandrivna Khirina arrange tours of Ukraine and abroad.

A recent tour of the homeland – is a trip to the townships Dykanka and Gogolevo in Poltava region.

The first object of our attention was the Triumphal Arc, built in 1820 by architect Luigi Rusca. The peculiarity of the Triumphal Arc is that it is the only monument in Ukraine dedicated to the victory over Napoleon in the Patriotic War of 1812.

Екскурсія в Полтаву фото 4There is Nicholas Church in two kilometers from the Arc. It was built in 1794 by V.P. Kochubei in the territory of the count’s estate. The uniqueness of this church is that for the first time in its construction was used a system of double dome, which was the idea of architect M.A. Lvov. In the basement there is the crypt, where several generations of Kochubei family are buried.

Екскурсія в Полтаву фото 5There are almost 800 year old oaks not far from the church (they are called Kochubeis’ because they were planted in the days of first Kochubeis). Unfortunately, today there are only four of them. These giant trees are 20-22 m in height and 150-185 cm in diameter. Oaks are berhymed in Pushkin’s poem “Poltava”. There is a legend that under these oaks Motria Kochubei (daughter of V.L. Kochubei) met with Hetman Ivan Mazepa, who was her godfather. Old Mazepa even went to the parents of sixteen year old Motria to ask for her hand. Of course, relatives were against their relationship. There is a version that Matrena’s mother was in love with I. Mazepa since her youth and she could not let the marriage of her daughter with Hetman become legitimate.

The next place of our visit was the Local History Museum named after D. Garmash. Exposition is located in 9 halls and has 8 thousand exhibits. Among them there is handmade, decorated with a pattern Kochubei’s chest, which served as a treasury of Trinity Church. There is a legend that blacksmith Vakula himself worked on the creation of the chest. In the museum you can see an antique steam tractor, Polovtsian stone sculptures, Cossack accessories and other antiquities.

Екскурсія в Полтаву фото 6Then we went to Trinity Church. It was built in Baroque style in 1780. It’s believed that the church had two secret entrances: the first – for protection from enemies, the second – way to the burial vault where Pavlo Kochubei and his wife were buried.

Екскурсія в Полтаву фото 3The most interesting was expecting for us in the museum-reserve of Mykola Vasylovych Gogol in Gogolevo village. It was very interesting to walk in the places where he lived and worked, to enjoy the scenery and nature. Next to the museum, there is an artificial pond made in the shape of a horseshoe on the order of Basyl Opanasovych – father of Mykola Gogol. Memorial and literary exposition of the museum is located in ten halls. And we discovered something new in each hall. We were given the opportunity to see the personal belongings of the writer and his family, first editions of Gogol’s books, portraits and interior design items.
