Curriculum vitae:

In 1997 Sergiy Vlasov was enrolled at the Ukrainian pharmaceutical academy (UkrPhA) in the pharmacy course. During the second year of study he entered the students scientific society at the organic chemistry department. He also took an active part in the organization of the students’ science as the Head of the Council of the Students’ Scientific Society of the University.

In 2002 Sergiy Vlasov successfully defended his graduate work and obtained The Diploma with Merit from the National Pharmaceutical Academy of Ukraine (specialty pharmacy – provizor).

The further studies Sergiy Vlasov continued as the master degree student at The V. N. Karazin Kharkiv National University (specialty chemistry – chemist, chemistry teacher) and also at The National University of Pharmacy (specialty pharmacy – master of pharmacy)

In 2003 Sergiy Vlasov broadened his scientific horizons by gaining the admission to the PhD program at The organic chemistry department of The National University of Pharmacy (scientific supervisor – Rector of The National University of Pharmacy, associate-member of NAS of Ukraine, professor Valentin Petrovich Chernykh).

In 2007 Sergiy Vlasov defended his PhD thesis in the Specialized Scientific Council of V. N. Karazin Kharkiv National University. The thesis title “Synthesis and reactivity of 3-heterylcoumarins with azole and azine moieties”, specialty 02.00.03 – organic chemistry (scientific supervisor – Rector of The National University of Pharmacy, associate-member of NAS of Ukraine, professor Valentin Petrovich Chernykh).

In the period 2004 – 2008 worked at The National University of Pharmacy as the teaching assistant of the organic chemistry department.

Sergiy Vlasov began his doctoral experiments right after he obtained his PhD degree. He defended his Doctoral thesis in the Specialized Scientific Council of The National University of Pharmacy. The thesis title “Synthesis, physico-chemical and pharmacological properties of 6-substituted thieno[2,3-d]pyrimidines”, specialty 15.00.02 – pharmaceutical chemistry and phramacognosy (scientific supervisor – Rector of The National University of Pharmacy, Academician of NAS of Ukraine, professor Valentin Petrovich Chernykh).

In the period 2009 – 2020 worked at The National University of Pharmacy as the associate professor of the organic chemistry department. During this period Vlasov Sergiy has much done for the improvement of the Organic chemistry course delivered for the English-speaking students. He played a key role in the development of the Instrumental methods of organic compounds analysis course.

Since 2020 fall semester Sergiy Vlasov occupied the post of the professor of the organic chemistry department as well as the similar post at the pharmaceutical chemistry department. In 2021 he became the professor of the pharmaceutical chemistry department.

Social activity

  • The vice-editor in chef of The Journal of Organic and Pharmaceutical Chemistry;
  • Member of the editorial board of The News of Pharmacy scientific journal;
  • Member of the Approbation commissions of NUPh on specialty 15.00.02 – Pharmaceutical chemistry and pharmacognosy;
  • Member of the Expert Problem Commission of NUPh;
  • 2007 – 2020 was the head-teacher of the Students scientific coterie of organic chemistry department of NUPh and the Secretary of the section “Synthesis of – physiologically active substances” of The International conference “Actual Questions of Development оf New Drugs”.
  • 2011-2014, he was the member of the Young scientists’ council of NUPh.
  • 1999-2001 The Head of the Students scientific society council of NUPh

Scientific studies

Organic synthesis and analysis of the biologically active substances and development of the novel drugs. The research in the field of the synthesis of the novel 3-heterylcoumarins, application of metal-complex catalysis for synthesis of novel derivatives of 4-substituted thieno[2,3-d]pyrimidines and pharmacological screening thereof. Development of novel antibacterial agents.
