Sidora Natalia Vyacheslavovna, associate professor of Pharmacognosy Department of the National University of Pharmacy and Yurchenko Natalia Sergeevna, postgraduate course student of the Pharmacognosy Department will take part in the French-Ukrainian educational program for professionals in healthcare and pharmacy from April 6 to April 15, 2013.
The project is organized by the French non-governmental organization “Association of French-Ukrainian cooperation in healthcare and pharmacy” (ASFUDS) in cooperation with the Ukrainian Medical Society in Lviv.
In the framework of the project the participants visited the following European countries: Hungary, Austria, France, Luxembourg, CzechRepublic and Poland. During the tour we learned about the cultural, scientific and educational potential of these countries. Highly qualified guides conducted tours around the most outstanding capital cities: Budapest, Vienna, Paris, Luxembourg, Prague and Krakow. As a part of experience sharing project for specialists in healthcare and pharmacy I visited the dermatological museum of waxworks of St. Louis clinic, Museum of pathoanatomy G. Dupuytren. Representative of the French side informed us of the organizational principles of the educational process of some universities of Paris: Sorbonne, Louis Pasteur and Rene Descartes.
With its story is famous Louis Pasteur Institute, founded in 1888 by Louis Pasteur, who was its first director. This is a private nonprofit research institute, whose main focus is the study of the biology of microorganisms, vaccines and infectious diseases. Today the Institute is one of the leading European research institutions in the field of infectious diseases.
In the University René Descartes (Paris V) are studying more than 25,000 students, at 6 departments: biomedicine, pediatrics, dental surgery, physical training and sports, pharmacy and biology, mathematics and computer science, human and social sciences.
It should be noted that education in these universities is for free, if you speak fluent French, the admission is on a competitive basis. The University has its own large library with a large stock of materials.
Today it is one of four universities that entered the modernized Sorbonne, along with Pantheon-Sorbonne (Paris I), New Sorbonne (Paris III) and Paris-Sorbonne (Paris IV). It is the largest state medical university in France and the world in which you can study at the same time several medical direction, including – pharmaceutical, dental and sports.
During our stay in Lviv we visited Museum-Pharmacy, founded in 1836. In the Museum is represented collection of MPM; dishes for storage of the loose, volatile and liquid dosage forms and pharmacy equipment for production of pills, suppositories, granules, tablets.
During the trip we had an opportunity to visit pharmacy chains of some countries and chat with fellow European pharmacists. Medicines are dispensed mostly on prescription, shopping space design in European pharmacies are characterized with free access to pharmaceutical products. Windows are equipped with automatic electronic price tags, which simplifies the process of revaluation of goods.
