Visiting professorships & visiting lectureships

During her visit to Tajik National University on November 10-19, 2018 with the purpose to provide advisory and methodological assistance in the opening of the Technology of Perfumery and Cosmetics specialty on the basis of the Pharmaceutical Faculty of Tajik National University, senior lecturer in the Department of Cosmetology and Aromology, Ph.D. in Pharmacy Kran E.S. took part in the VI Republican Scientific and Practical Conference “Actual problems of modern medicine and pharmacy: a glance into the future” with a report on the topic: State regulation of cosmetic products in Ukraine. Participation certificate was received.

On February 15-16, 2018, Head of the Department of Pharmaceutical Technology and Practice of the Faculty of Pharmacy of the Lebanese University (Beirut), Prof. Hussein Kanaan presented the results of his 10-year research of marine algae of the Lebanese coast at the Department of Pharmacognosy of the NUPh.

Prof. Hussein Kanaan chose the National University of Pharmacy to conduct his lecture for a reason. Hussain Moussa Kanaan – graduate of KhPhI of 1983. In 1983-1986, he studied under PhD program at the Department of Organic Chemistry (KhPhI), and in 1986 he defended his PhD dissertation on topic “N-R-Amides of oxamic acids with skeleton and long chain substituents and their biological activity” under supervision of Doctor of Chemical Sciences, Professor Petiunin P.A.

Together with P.A. Petyunin, he developed synthesis methods for amides and hydrazides of oxamic acids with skeleton and long-chain substituents.

After the defense, Hussain Kanaan returned to Lebanon, in 1987-1991 he taught pharmacognosy at the Faculty of Pharmacy of the Lebanese University (Beirut). Since 1992, Professor Hussein Moussa Kanaan – Head of the Department of Pharmaceutical Technology and Practice at the University of Lebanon.

In his lectures, Professor briefly outlined the main points and practical results of his research work, for which 10 locations on the sea coast of Lebanon were chosen. With the help of specialists from Vladivostok, algae of three types – green, brown and red -were selected and studied.

The special features of algae growth, the chemical composition of some algae species, as well as their possible application in medicine, pharmacy and food industry were presented in the lectures.

As a result of this research, atlas of the sea coast of Lebanon “Marine Algae of the Lebanese Coast” was created, which was authorized for publication by the American publishing house Nova.
