UDC 575.113 THE APPLIED VALUE OF GENOTYPING Yu.S.Rudyk, S.M.Pyvovar, A.S.Popovich, V.V.Nikolaeva

The importance of gene polymorphisms in the system of drug biotransformation in efficacy and safety, as well as in manifestation of many pathological processes is shown in numerous papers. A set of activities, including the building of individual genetic maps, data collection and analysis of polymorphisms in the population, determination of medical significance of mutations and, eventually, mapping of the diseases according to the groups, is one of the most pressing problems, not only in human genetics, but also in the practical medicine. Due to specially designed preventive measures it is possible to estimate the risk of the diseases and to delay their appearance. The knowledge of genetic features of disease development will be able to specify further drug therapy of patients.

Key words: gene polymorphism, genotyping, medicines, biotransformation
