Scientific and practical seminar MODERN CHEMICAL TRENDS IN SCIENCE AND EDUCATION was held in honor of the Chemist’s Day

On May 27, 2024, the Council of Young Scientists of the National University of Pharmacy, with the support of the Vice-rector for scientific and pedagogical work, Professor Inna VLADYMYROVA, held a scientific and practical seminar MODERN CHEMICAL TRENDS IN SCIENCE AND EDUCATION was held in honor of the Chemist’s Day

The event was co-organized by the Faculty of Chemistry of V.N. Kharkiv National University.

More than 90 representatives of institutions of higher and professional pre-higher education and scientific institutions participated in it.

The seminar began with a mention of the recent tragic events and the Day of Mourning in Kharkiv: May 27 was declared a day of mourning for those killed in the Epicenter. Also, the gratitude to the Armed Forces of Ukraine for courage and bravery in the fight against russian military aggression against Ukraine was expressed.

The seminar continued with the welcoming words of the Vice-rector, Professor Inna Vladymyrova, who congratulated the participants on behalf of Acting Rector of the National University of Pharmacy, Professor Alla Kotvitska. The co-organizer of the event was Oleg KALUGIN, dean of the Faculty of Chemistry, professor of the Department of Inorganic Chemistry of Kharkiv V.N. Karazin National University.


The following reports were presented at the seminar:

  • Roman LESYK, Doctor of Pharmacy, Professor, Honored Worker of Science and Technology of Ukraine, laureate of the State Prize of Ukraine in the field of science and technology, Doctor Honoris Causa of the Karol Marcinkowski Medical University in Poznań (Republic of Poland), described molecular design, synthesis and research of new biologically active compounds as potential drugs
  • Kostyantyn BELIKOV, deputy director for scientific work of the Institute of Monocrystals of the National Academy of Sciences of Ukraine, candidate of chemistry. Ph.D., a senior researcher who outlined pharmaceutical and medical-biological research at the Institute of Monocrystals of the National Academy of Sciences of Ukraine
  • Oleksandr KYRYCHENKO, professor of the Department of Inorganic Chemistry of Kharkiv V.N. Karazin National University, who presented the scientific work on modern methods of molecular design of active pharmaceutical ingredients for the therapy of the Coronavirus
  • Mykyty KORDUBAYLY, PhD student of the 2nd year of the Chemistry educational program, specialty 102 Chemistry of the Institute of Organic Chemistry of the National Academy of Sciences of Ukraine, who presented research on the synthesis of the reactivity of azaindole derivatives
  • Roman SCHERBYNA, head of the Educational and Scientific Medical Laboratory Center with a vivarium, professor of the Department of Toxicological and Inorganic Chemistry, Doctor of Pharm. Sc. Zaporizhzhia State Medical and Pharmaceutical University, who presented the scientific experience of ZSMPU in military conditions
  • Oksana BERNADSKA, forensic expert, acting the head of the sector of molecular genetic research of the laboratory of physical, chemical, biological and veterinary research of the National Scientific Center Institute of Forensic Expertise named after Post Prof. M.S. Bokarius introduced the seminar participants to the relevance of molecular genetic research.


Also within the framework of the seminar was a section of plenary reports SMALL CHEMICAL SCIENCE, the participants of which were pupils of grades 9-10 of Kharkiv Lyceums No. 89, 107, 116, 149, 16 of the Kharkiv City Council.

Schoolchildren who presented their scientific reports received gifts from the partner of the NUPh, the pharmaceutical company ANANTA MEDICARE – a Rozetka gift certificate with a denomination of UAH 500. We express our gratitude to Rana Bridgendra, commercial director of the pharmaceutical company ANANTA MEDICARE.

All reports aroused lively interest and discussion.

The seminar ended with summing up and congratulating the participants on the Chemist’s Day!
